The short version

Pretro is a no-account sprint poker and retrospective tool. We do not require an email, a password, or a Google login to use it. We do not sell your data, run third-party ads, or share your retro contents with anyone outside our infrastructure providers. This page explains exactly what we collect, where it lives, and what your options are.

Who we are

Pretro is operated by Verlog Technologies. You can reach us anytime at [email protected] with any privacy question or request.

What we collect

Because Pretro has no user accounts, the data we hold about any individual is intentionally minimal.

Data stored in your browser

  • A randomly generated browser identifier (browserId) that we place in your browser's localStorage. This identifier is how a Pretro room recognizes you when you rejoin.
  • The display name you choose for yourself when you first enter a room. This name is voluntary. You can type anything you want, including a pseudonym.
  • The emoji avatar you pick to represent yourself.
  • If you are a room host, an optional team code (for example PRETRO-K4Q9) that you can reuse to carry retrospective action items between sprints.

None of these values include your real name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifying information unless you choose to type one of those into a name field yourself.

Data stored on our servers

When you create or join a room, the contents of that room are stored in our database, which is hosted on Supabase. This includes:

  • Room metadata (room slug, room type, host browser identifier, creation and last-active timestamps).
  • Participant rows (display name, avatar emoji, browser identifier, join time, host status).
  • Poker rounds and votes (ticket title, card values per participant, reveal timestamps).
  • Retrospective cards, votes, group merges, and action items. Cards that participants mark as anonymous are stored without attribution.
  • Emoji reactions and chat messages posted inside the room.

Rooms are ephemeral. A room is automatically deleted thirty days after the last activity. If you want to keep a record of a retro after it ends, the host can export the room contents as CSV before that window closes.

Analytics

We use two privacy-respecting analytics services to understand how the site is used in aggregate.

  • Vercel Analytics measures anonymized page views and basic performance metrics. It does not use cookies and does not attempt to identify individual visitors.
  • Google Analytics is enabled on marketing pages to help us understand which content brings teams to Pretro. We have IP anonymization enabled and we do not pass any of the in-room identifiers above into the analytics layer.

We do not use any third-party advertising network. There are no display ads on Pretro and no retargeting pixels.

What we do not do

  • We do not collect your email address.
  • We do not collect your legal name.
  • We do not run third-party display ads.
  • We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
  • We do not share retro contents outside the room they were posted in, beyond storing them in our Supabase database.
  • We do not currently charge for Pretro and we do not collect payment information.

Future billing

If we add a paid tier in the future, we plan to use Stripe to process payments. We do not currently use Stripe and no payment data passes through Pretro today. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and let you know what is changing.

Your choices

  • You can clear Pretro's data from your browser at any time by clearing your site data for pretro.io. This removes your browser identifier, display name, avatar, and any saved team codes.
  • You can leave any Pretro room at any time. If you are the host, you can also remove other participants.
  • If you want a specific room or participant record deleted before the thirty-day automatic cleanup, email us at [email protected] and we will handle it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. For meaningful changes we will also flag them on the Pretro homepage so returning users see the update.
